Finally, Hillary is getting tough on Obama!

Monday, February 25, 2008

"Enough with the speeches and the big rallies, and then using tactics right out of Karl Rove's playbook. This is wrong, and every Democrat should be outraged."
--Hillary Clinton

I don't believe in Karma, but if I did....

Thursday, February 21, 2008

The nation's top federal election official told Sen. John McCain yesterday that he cannot immediately withdraw from the presidential public financing system as he had requested, a decision that threatens to dramatically restrict his spending until the general election campaign begins in the fall.

The prospect of being financially hamstrung by the very fundraising system he helped create is the latest in a series of bitter challenges for the presumed GOP nominee, who still faces a fractured conservative coalition as he assumes the mantle of party leadership.

-Matthew Mosk and Glenn Kessler, Washington Post Staff Writers

The McCain-Feingold legislation comes back to bite who? That's right, it bit Mr. McCain right in the rear-end. If I believed in Karma, this would be a perfect example.

“My statement that I made at my speech was that he suggested bombing Pakistan without their permission,” McCain said. “The best idea is to not broadcast what you are going to do. That’s naïve… it’s just fundamentals of the conduct of national security policy."

-John McCain, giving us a glimpse of how easy it will be for him to dismantle Obama, who is naive, inexperienced, and someone who lacks any sense of reality.

Sen. John McCain stumbled in the first elections since becoming the apparent Republican nominee for president, losing the Kansas caucuses as another round of states voted Saturday.

Can McCain convice conservatives?

Friday, February 8, 2008

"He is the most disloyal, ill-tempered man and he brings out the worse in all of us...."

- Anonymous conservative woman, posting on National Review blog

It looks like other conservatives are not as comprimising about getting behind McCain as I am, but I understand. McCain has "a long row to hoe" with the Right.

Ok, Ok.....time to suck it up.

Thursday, February 7, 2008

So I've been an unrelenting critic of John McCain. I don't agree with the man, although I do respect his service to our country, both civic and military. His attempt to shove amnesty down our throats is still stuck in my craw, as it does with many conservatives.

But after hearing Mitt Romney's speech today, I realized how important it is that conservatives set aside their disagreements, and vote for McCain, unless some miracle third-party conservative somehow whips up a viable candidacy.

I know with McCain, that we will have a leader that is committed to national security, and won't appoint radically left-wing Supreme Court justices. Would it be another four or eight years of a Bush-like liberal Republican? Yes, it will be. It will be a lot like the Bush years in terms of policy. But better to have four more years of liberal Republicanism than the radical left agenda of a Hillary Clinton.

It's time to suck-it-up, and prepare myself to vote for McCain. It's the only choice I'm left with.

Super Tuesday

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Super Tuesday is upon us, and it is fairly certain that John McCain is going to get the nomination today. And McCain can thank Mike Huckabee for running interference for Mitt Romney. It is totally obvious to Mike Huckabee that he cannot win the race for the GOP nomination, yet he has stayed in the race. To me, it seems like he is just staying in to thwart Mitt Romney's chances.

Huckabee makes me nervous

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

Wow, is Mike Huckabee starting to flex his muscles a little bit in his quest for the Republican nomination. The guy is in the news, on the blogs, and the topic of discussion on many levels.

This guy makes me nervous. And yes, I have stopped the political blogging, but this isn't really about politics, this is about a guy who is a Southern Baptist minister, and is being supported by many on the Evangelical-right.

What is making me nervous is that Huckabee seems to be the "Christian" candidate, and I'm just not sure that I want him to be known as that. His latest flippant comment about Mitt Romney's mormonism ("Don't mormons believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers") might be partially correct, but shows a lack of tact, in my opinion. It reinforces the generalization that Bible-belt Christians are somewhat bass-ackward.

Of course, Huckabee's politics make me nervous, too. He's the second coming of George W. Bush: a big-government, open-borders, New World Order, Neo-con. The more I see and hear about Huckabee, the more I am leaning toward Mitt and Freddie Thompson.

But I'm not a political blogger any more, so I'll just leave it at that for now.
