Daughtry

Monday, November 19, 2007

I almost forgot to post about Daughtry. I had no idea that this guy/band had become so popular. Isn't this band a lot like Incubus, with a little more of the Alabama sound? I had no idea that these guys were even remotely popular. Where have I been? Oh, that's right, listening to Jimmy Eat World's latest release.

he's pretty popular. I like his voice and his songs. They talk about simple feelings, about the average Joe. A couple of those songs have helped me get through some bad times.

Hey Anonymous,

It's cool when you find an artist that we identify with. Thanks for commenting.

Daughtry got you through tough times? Man, I must be getting old. I think his music is poppy, over-produced, lyrically-stretching-at-best mediocrity. Why not have another Matchbox 20 on the market?

Then again, maybe he's just good for a different crowd, like J.E.W. I bought J.E.W's newest and am thoroughly unimpressed. Another overproduced, lyrically-rushed album.

There's just nothing exciting out there except maybe Paramour, Matt Nathanson, or Mat Kearney.

Mat Kearney is pretty good. He reminds me of Coldplay with a hip-hop flavor.

I have a different opinion of "Chase This Light" from J.E.W. But I personally like the ear-candy that they continually create on their records. The guitar sounds that they get in the studio are phenomenal. Lyrically, the album is not great, that's for sure. J.E.W. has gotten too political for me in their lyrics, but man I love their guitar work.

I listen to JEW because I want to rock out. And man, their live show at the House of Blues-Anaheim was rippin'!

I have heard that JEW does put on a pretty good live performance, and as thick as their compositions are, that must be tough.
